Denmark by Bike

Denmark is a biking nation. The country has over 10 000 kilometres of safe bike routes that offers security and peace of mind. But the country’s network of bike paths is not just for seasoned cyclists. Even a novice can enjoy cycling Denmark’s gentle landscape.

Christensen Cycle Company guides you on an unforgettable journey across the emerald island of Zealand. We’ll cycle the beautiful coastline and through lush oak forests. You’ll delight in quiet moments on gently winding lanes, past thatched-roof cottages and wheat fields lined with hedges.

We only stay in three hotels during the 9-day, 8-night trip. Our hotels are all 4.5 stars and situated just out side of major cities. They are quiet and relaxing. Once at our first hotel, we will do day trips in the area for a few days, and then bike to our next hotel. It feels like a vacation this way and not the Tour de France.

Luggage is transported in our van and you take a daypack with you each day. We will average approximately 30-40 kms a day, with the longest day being 45 km. We can all average 10-15 km/hr and this means an average of 2 hours in the saddle during the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon, with breaks every hour. You may bike more, or less, than what is planned each day. If you want to visit something not on the itinerary, you are encouraged to do so and this happens all the time.

Bicycles are well built 7-speed cruiser types with helmets, front baskets, lights and rear rack. We blend right in to the Danish cycle culture. The majority of the cycling is done on cycle-only paths.
